Thank you for the follow-up. We have decided to call her Riley. She is settling in wonderfully. She and my schnauzer, Roscoe, are currently running around the house playing. Rox is a submissive dog, and so she's already ruling the roost. She's eating well, so we're hoping she'll gain some weight soon. We were delighted to discover that she's both housetrained and crate-trained already.
She also couldn't care less about cats and has left them completely alone. We're seeing her personality :) She's a real cuddle-bug and likes to sit on laps. She's very sweet and a great fit with us.
We'll be working with our obedience instructor soon on obedience, socialization, and to help correct food and resource guarding. That's to be expected in most rescue dogs, though, so we're going to work with her to help her learn that resources are not in short order around here.
She does let me take things from her with no aggression, so that's an encouraging sign. It's a necessary behavioral correction, so we're getting some assistance with it. I also think it will diminish some once she realizes Rox isn't allowed to have her food. Anyway, we're going to work it out.
We have an appointment at the veterinarian on Tuesday. We're doing a full physical, with bloodwork and stool and urine tests, and getting her micro-chipped.
I think that's all so far. She's had a bath and is doing very well here. We'll send photos when we get them uploaded to the computer.
Thank you for your follow-up, and we'll be in touch.
