Tana

Tana

Our beloved Tana is now living large with her brother Andy, who was born w/ no front legs. Their mom Heather works at home but when she runs out, they hang together in a gorgeous wood crib with high rails so neither can escape. The crib is filled with toys and there is more love in that house than could ever be measured.

Heather has adaptive toys and props all around the house for Andy to aid him as he hops along on back legs, ottomans he can rest on, and so forth, so he gets around just fine. Tana, with her backward legs is right at home.

No kill works, for Tana would have been considered "unadoptable" by most shelters and  sadly, by a lot of rescues. But as we all know, Tana has great spirit, and I loved every day of her 3 months here. Two orthopedic surgeons and an acupuncturist said nothing could be done for her legs, that she wasn't in pain, just looked funny pulling her useless legs along behind her. Over time, she learned to use the legs as a singular unit in a hopping like fashion. She's been in her home over a month now, and is incredibly happy.   ~ Anne
